About

Check out this spot in Kamari. Popular location for water skiing, wake boarding, kayaking, canoeing, sailing and supping. Kamari is a seaside village located on the southeast of the island of Santorini in Greece. The village is characterized by its black sand beach and crystal clear waters, overlooked by a cliff that forms part of the island. The shoreline is lined with shops, tavernas, and cafes, offering visitors a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The area is also home to ancient ruins, such as the ruins of Ancient Thera on top of the cliff overlooking Kamari. The surrounding scenery features dramatic volcanic landscapes, white-washed houses, and the blue-domed churches that are typical of the Cyclades islands. The combination of the black sand beach and unique scenery makes Kamari a popular destination for visitors to Santorini.

Plan your swim

Before you go

  • Check tide times before entering. Incoming tides can cut off escape routes.
  • Watch for rip currents, especially near groynes and headlands
  • Cold water shock is real. Enter slowly and control your breathing.
  • Always swim with others or tell someone your plan
  • A tow float makes you visible to boats and other water users

Conditions change fast. Always check the latest data, read recent community reports, and swim within your ability.

Check the Tides tab for today's high and low times. Many coastal spots are best around high tide when there's enough water depth, or during slack water when currents are weakest.

What should I bring?

A tow float for visibility, warm layers for after, and footwear for rocky entries. In colder months, consider a wetsuit, gloves, and a swim cap.
