Wolfsburg is a city located in the northern region of Niedersachsen, Germany. The area is largely characterized by its flat topography, consisting of fields and farms that cover much of the landscape. The city itself is relatively modern and urban, built up around the Volkswagen plant which dominates the city's skyline. Surrounding the city are several forests and nature reserves, providing opportunities for outdoor recreation like hiking and cycling. To the south of Wolfsburg lies the Harz Mountains, a popular destination for skiing and winter sports. To the north, the Elbe River flows through the area, with many riverside parks and trails for visitors to enjoy.
