- Easy to locate if you are driving. - The car park has many spaces, but there are no ticket machines so the prices are 10p more than listed as you need to use the pay by phone app. but still only 50p an hour which is a bargain. - Visit after 6 in summer or 3 in winter and parking is free! - Lake is right next to car park. - There is a ramp into the water for boats that you can use get in and there is another way further around but I haven't tried it yet. - Massive body of water so you are not restricted on space. - Loads of geese so be respectful to them but there no bother. - The only thing to be cautious about is there is a sailing club so maybe double check there's no events when you plan to swim, both times ive been have been in the early evening and no one else on the water - Have added photo's of car park info and map

Love Swan Pool, go at certain times to avoid sailing club. Just need to pay for parking. Loads of geese and swans that seem friendly. Can either go in from the jetty by the car park, or turn left walk about 5 minutes to a little beach.

First swim here today. Very friendly, welcoming team and fellow swimmers. £10 to join and £4 to swim. They give you a coloured hat to swim in. Had to swim for 20 mins as a test for the first session then can swim freely. One lifeguard on the side and one in the water on a paddleboard. Water quality was good, 21°today. No changing facilities but the car park is right next to the pool, only 40p for one hour, 80p for two hours.

Frequently asked questions

Is this lake safe for swimming?

Check the Conditions tab for surface state and wind conditions. Review the Quality tab if this is a designated bathing water. Always read recent community reports for local advice.

How cold is the water?

Check the Temperature tab for the current estimate and 7-day trend. Lakes hold heat longer than rivers but can develop a thermocline. The water below the surface can be dramatically colder.

What should I bring?

A tow float for visibility (especially important where boats operate), warm layers for after, and consider a wetsuit in colder months. Check for designated swimming areas.

What should I know before swimming here?

Cold water shock is real. Enter slowly and control your breathing. Lake water can be much colder below the surface (thermocline). Stay close to shore until you know the conditions. Watch for boat traffic and stay visible with a tow float. Check for blue-green algae warnings before swimming. Conditions change fast. Always check the latest data, read recent community reports, and swim within your ability.
