Regular swim spot for Reading Bluetits group. There is a small beach area next to the beach with easy sloping access into the river. It’s possible to dip or to swim up or downstream. If you walk upstream there are several spots where you can enter the river and then swoosh back to the beach with the current. There are longer swims possible down from Caversham Lock to the beach or carrying on down to just before Sonning Lock. It’s a really lovely place to swim.

Getting there
Accessed from Thames Valley Drive or along the the Thames Path. Easy access from Reading or Bracknell as its just at the end of the A329 and off the A4. There is parking on Thames Valley Drive. No parking 7.30-10.30 and 16.30-17.30 on week days, but if you carry on to the mini roundabout and turn right there are no parking restrictions.
Accessibility
There is a slope with a handrail down to the park from Thames Valley Drive. There is then a short walk- about 100m across the grass to get to the beach area. There are benches either side of the beach where you can get changed. Access into the river is from the beach area under trees- there are some roots to step over and a gentle slope down into the river. The park can be muddy after rain.
