About

Access to the river Teme via the weir at Millenium Green. Go around Csons cafe, cross the metal bridge over the weir race, change on the weir. Enter above the weir and swim upriver. If the weir is totally overflowing, it's too high to enter. Safe even for beginners as the weir race provides shallow access and acclimatisation and allows you to safely swim upriver without being near the main part of the weir. A popular local entry point.

Location

Getting there

You can park in the car park just along the road from Csons, public toilets available there. Or for free on the opposite side of Dinham Bridge. To get to Dinham go to the central market Square in Ludlow and follow the road around the Castle walls down to Dinham.

Accessibility

Great access above the weir race. You can change and enter via the shallow mill race and swim upstream. Stones under foot but nothing too difficult. If you are anxious about the weir, you can enter the river a little further upstream from the public carpark. Use the small metal gate, there are steps via stone boulders into the river there.

Check the Conditions tab for current flow rate and recent rainfall. Rivers can become dangerous after heavy rain. Review community reports for hazards like weirs, strong currents, or access issues.

How cold is the water?

Check the Temperature tab for the current estimate and 7-day trend. River temperatures respond quickly to weather changes. In the UK, expect 5-10°C in winter and 15-20°C in summer at most locations.
